Installation of the ParaPort driver on Windows XP systems
The images of this page have been created thanks to the help of Kevin LIU, China. Launch the "Add/Remove Hardware Wizard" ......in the Windows XP Control Panel ( click on "Windows Start Menu" -> "Settings" -> "Control Panel" ). The following dialog box is displayed:
... and Follow the Instructions:Since the parallel port hardware exists on the system, do the selection:
Then "add a new hardware device" driver...
...by selecting it from a list ( ! ).
Define the Hardware Type...as "Other devices". You may use the scroller to find this selection:
Load the Setup Information File......by clicking on the button "Have Disk"...
... and "Browse":
In the "file open dialog box" select the file "ParaPort.inf" and click "Open":
Confirm the source directory for the driver files:
Select the Driver......by clicking on the button "Next" a first time...
...and a second time:
The "Add/Remove Hardware Wizard" will do its job ...
... and finish:
Verify the installation...... by opening in the application "Computer Management" ( click on "Windows Start Menu" -> "Settings" -> "Control Panel" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Computer Management" ) the Windows Device Manager ( click on "Device Manager" ). The following entry of ParaPort should be displayed:
